From A Simple Beginning
OUR BEGINNING
What started with just five rental sets has grown into one of the premier rental club service companies on the east coast. In 2015 our golf package company was growing and the last thing on our mind was rental clubs. That all changed with a simple phone call, the organizer of one of our package groups called me to see if we knew where they could get some reasonably priced rental clubs for a couple of their golfers. As is still the case today baggage fees, were expensive, it was a hassle to check bags, and flying into Myrtle Beach at the time was a lot harder, with very few direct flights, bags had a habit of missing their connecting flights. So renting was a viable alternative except for the price.
Thinking that there might be an opportunity to increase the value of our package service by offering rental clubs as an option, we purchased five sets of clubs and were in the golf rental business. But before the ink was dry on our first payment for the clubs our plans took a sharp turn in another direction. While at a golf show in Chicago we were confronted with a request for a couple dozen sets for an event at a local country club. For the next couple of years, although we did provide rental clubs for a number smaller events, our focus of servicing our individual rental customers did not change.
In the fall of 2017, our focus of concentrating on our individual rental business changed following a request from a company in Lakeville, Massachusetts. They needed sixty-five sets, and we couldn’t ship them, so we had to find a way to get that many sets there on time. This fall will be our sixth year of providing rental clubs for this company and only the pandemic prevented it from being two more years.
TODAY
Since that time, we have grown to become one of the largest suppliers of quality rental clubs for golf events on the East Coast. That is not to say it was easy. We had to improvise when the pandemic hit. The event business had ceased to exist. Many golf courses in South Carolina remained open during the pandemic but without travelers from other areas even our individual rental business looked like it too was finished. Looking for some help I found it in the form of a small sporting goods shop on Hilton Head Island. Working with the owner we developed a program where we could service our customers in the same manner as we do in Myrtle Beach, by providing easy pick up and return, same day service, and still the best prices on the beach without added cost of shipping. With the added sales from our two remote locations we were able to weather the pandemic and come back bigger and better.
Over the past nine years, we have grown into a leading supplier of quality rental clubs for traveling individuals and corporate and charity golf events. Today we inventory in excess of a hundred and seventy sets at our main shop in Little River and our remote locations. We are committed to providing our customers with exceptional customer service and high-quality golf equipment. We continue to focus on offering the best possible rental experience for our customers.
